Bill Cunningham of New York was an entertaining, fun, sassy, candid and honest documentary about a man who lived and breathed his passion in his daily life and had a rock solid philosophy in his photography of fashion in New York City. This documentary well illustrated Bill Cunningham’s integrity and passion.
Some quotes of Bill’s from the movie reflected how he operated. “If you don’t take any money, they can’t tell you what to do,” said Bill of when a magazine used to send him paychecks for use of his photos, where he would ceremoniously tear them up in front of the editor.
Bill Cunningham is an acclaimed fashion photographer, not only in New York City, but in Europe. He is a regular at Paris Fashion Week. However, he is very picky about the photos he takes. “If it isn’t something a woman out on the street can wear, I don’t take a picture. I’m not interested in clothes that only fit models. If it isn’t something that would fit on a woman’s body, I have no interest.”
Bill was a fascinating, artistic and talented man who maintained a rock solid morale throughout his career.
