Signal 100 Review

First off, let me start this by saying: WTF?

This movie was absolutely ludicrous and I have so many questions but I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy it. I laughed so hard watching this movie I thought I was going to run out of air.

Signal 100 is a Japanese drama/thriller/horror movie. It is about a class of students that get hypnotized by their teacher to commit suicide upon 100 unknown signals. The only way to survive is to be the last one left.

The signals or completely weird, but they aren’t random. The first 60 or so signals were predetermined by the American cult that made the hypnotizing film to control their followers. But the other 40 or so signals were chosen by the teacher. And get this, its their class rules. I think this teacher took rule breaking just a bit too seriously.

The rules range from obvious ones like “no violence against other students” or “no phones” to odd ones like “no crying” or “no drinking out of a bottle” to just plain stupid ones like “no beer showers” or “no longing gazes for more than 10 seconds”. Not to mention the ones that are just freaking ridiculous like “if seven people point at you, you die” or “no touching an aroused sex organ”. And when any of the students triggered one of these signals, they would lose control of their bodies and be forced to commit suicide. This movie had some of the most gruesome deaths I have ever seen. And I want to thank whoever did all the blood work on this film because they must have had so much work to do. I would bet they went through at least a couple hundred gallons of fake blood for this and it was fantastic.

And while this movie was wild and stupid and crazy I had so so so much fun watching it. I saw it with my brother and we could not stop talking about it afterwards. That might actually be my favorite thing about this movie, was just reacting to it and laughing about it. This is definitely a movie that you should see with friends because it just makes the experience so much better.

Honestly, writing this review has made me want to watch it again. I would 100% recommend this movie to others. If you get the chance, you should definitely watch it. Enjoy!
