you get there?
Most of the movies screened at The Hawaiian International Film Festival 2016 are screened at the Dole Cannery Stadium 18. Getting there is easy. A quick turn of Nimitz Highway and you can see the whole shebang out fold itself with people and posters.
How do you navigate the event?
Staff of HIFF friendly guides the general public and movie stars on the right path. Great systems of navigation poles are scattered around, letting you know where your movie line starts. This makes it easy to navigate the main entrance floor. Look for people with distinct white T-shirts with giant prints of HIFF. They are happy to help you.
Getting into the cinemas main lobby there is a press wall to the left and snack bar in the very back. Attending HIFF is just like going to any cinema movie, except the movies here are more special. You can buy all the snacks you want and talk to the press, producers and movie stars.
HIFF introduces the producers and moviemakers behind the movies in the theaters prior to the screening. There are a lot of emotions emerging amongst the audience and producers during the Interview. Story behind the production, challenges and memorable moments are shared. There is a quick flash of cameras and the movie starts playing.
After the movie there is usually held a Q&A. First the Staff of HIFF have several questions to the producers where the main points are discussed. Later the viewers get the chance to ask their questions. After Q&A the movie starts and producers are gathered in the cinema main lobby for pictures and discussions. This is the part where you see stressed out media guys running around making sure every photo is made correctly and all items on their checklist are marked off. If you are pateint you can snap a photo with one of the stars.
