Earlier today, I went to see the Indonesian action movie called “Headshot” at the Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF) 2016 at the Regal Dole Cinema. I really wanted to watch this movie because it is from my country and I miss watching a movie in Indonesian language.
When I was about to enter the studio, a HIFF staff handed me a paper for us to rate the movie after we are done watching it. The studio was kind of packed with audiences, but not fully packed.
The story of the movie “Headshot” is about a guy (Iko Uwais) who could not remember who he was after being shot in his head. Then, a female student doctor, named Ailin (Chelsea Islan), helps him to regain his memory. Ailin gave him a name “Ishmael” because he could not remember anything, even his name. Day by day, Ishmael starts to remember. Apparently, he had a dark past with a drug lord and the mafia, Lee (Sunny Pung). Lee, who felt betrayed by Ishmael, knew that he was still alive, so Lee and his crew hunted him. Then Lee kidnapped Ailin because he knew that Ishmael would come to save her.
This action movie is very sadistic and full of fighting, so if you are scared of blood I would not recommend or suggest you watch this movie. But if you like thrilling movies then you HAVE TO watch this! As an Indonesian myself, I am pretty proud of this movie because I think Iko Uwais is a really good actor for this kind of movie. This movie is similar to his previous action movies “The Raid” and “The Raid 2” but of course with a different storyline. I also like the storyline because it was kind of unpredictable and different. The visuals and sound effects on this movie are also fantastic.
If you did not get a chance to watch this today, do not worry because “Headshot” has a second screening on November 11, 2016 at 8:45pm at the Regal Dole Cinema.
