The stars gathered Friday night for the 36th Edition of the Hawaii International Film Festival Awards Gala presented by Halekulani. Producers, directors, and actors all took their turn strolling down the red carpet to get their picture taken. The gala was also blessed with the presence of two veterans on Veteran’s Day.

The Golden Orchid for Best Narrative Feature – MOONLIGHT, directed by Barry Jenkins. APPRENTICE and KNIFE IN THE CLEAR WATER were a Special Mention for acting and cinematography, respectively.
King Hu was honored for as this year’s Filmmaker in Focus.
The Golden Orchid for Best Documentary Feature Award – THE CINEMA TRAVELERS, directed by Shirley Abraham and Amit Madeshiya
There were two Special Mentions; Robin Lung for FINDING KUKAN (Women in Film) and Tadashi Nakamura for MELE MURALS (Local Impact/Perpetuation of Hawaiian Culture).
The Golden Orchid for Best Short Film – COINBOY, directed by Li Chuan-Yang.
NETPAC Award – KNIFE IN THE CLEAR WATER, directed by Wang Xuebo.
HIFF is the only film festival in North America granted the distinguished honor of presenting the NETPAC award.
