Hawaii International Film Festival has a lot of different documentaries on the list this year, one of them is ‘We Are The Giants’ directed by Greg Barker.
Since late 2010, more than a dozen nations in the Arab world have experienced series of demonstrations, riots and revolutions, which began with demonstrations in Tunisia on 18.12.2010. We Are the Giant tells the moving stories about regular individuals who are transformed into human rights activists in order to fight for freedom and democracy.
Protest, sustained by mainly young people and social-media organizations, have exposed repression and led to government changes. Greg Barker has created the documentary through touching portraits of the activists, which led the viewer to get to know their stories and viewpoint.
This film won the Halekulani Golden Orchid award. I will highly recommend you to watch this documentary. It is a strong and moving documentary that tells an important story.
