The 30th of October it was the opening day at the annual Hawaii International film festival 2014. The film festival was first kicked off with an opening press conference at the Halekulani Hotel in Waikiki.
This year was the 34th time the festival was hosted in Hawaii and it is the biggest film festival in the Pacific.
I really enjoyed being a part of the festival, and it was such a new and fun experience for me. I rarely watch movies, but after the festival I was very inspired by watching all kinds of different films, that I not usually would have seen.
During the festival I saw four films at the Dole Cannery.
A series of shot films from Australia, Japan and Canada, with the same message; different people who experience a turning point in their lives.
We are the giant
A wonderful, yet heartbreaking, documentary about the Arabian spring, where several of the dictatorship fell in several of the Arabic countries – and how it was to be in the middle of the events, when the demonstrations and violence accrued. A must watch documentary!
In order of disappearance
A Norwegian film with a dark sense of humor, about a father’s manhunt to find out who his son’s killer is. A funny, yet dark but entertaining film.
The hip-hop fellow
A documentary about the rapper the 9th wonder tenures at Harvard University, and how Hip-hop is important in culture and its role in academia.
For me, HIFF was a great experience and I had many new experiences. From attending my first press conference to be attending an event ass press, and having to take pictures and think story while being at HIFF. I learned a lot, and really wish this wont be my last time at a film festival.
