This was the second time I had the privilege of attending the Hawaii International Film Festival, and I loved it even more than last year. Our multimedia class was provided with press passes to make sure we all “found our moment.” I really love the fact that we have the opportunity as students to see films for free and experience such diversity as part of our education. I saw the four films Loitering With Intent, Aberdeen, Jalanan and Self-Made. The reason I picked these films was merely because they fit into my schedule! My favorite film this year was Loitering with Intent, I found it both entertaining and motivational – at least enough to take an extra look at my goals leading to a creative career (hopefully). If I had to pick a least favorite film, I’d have to go with Jalanan – though that might be due to the experience as a whole. (Unfortunately the screen went black during showing.) Aberdeen and Self-Made were both good but more on the confusing side.
All in all it was a great experience, and I’d love to have the opportunity to attend HIFF 2015. I’d recommend anyone to check it out, because I believe there is enough diversity for everyone to see something they’ll like.
