A lot can happen in one night as the old saying goes. For Michelle, who is the creative director at a foreign advertisement agency, a lot not only happens to her in the span of one night, but also a life-altering surprised is placed upon her. Michelle, who very rarely parties, and is a professional career-driven woman by all standards, finds herself pregnant after drunken night of partying at her 32nd birthday party. One Night Surprise is a very light hearted romantic comedy about life, love, and self-discovery.
At the start of the film audience members are taken back in time to the night of the main character, Michelle’s 32nd birthday party. We see that everyone has come dressed up and are partying immensely at a club for Michelle’s 32nd birthday. Michelle is shown drinking one alcohol beverage after another, and eventually getting so drunk and blackouts that she must carried back up into her room. As the plot of the story moves on, Michelle finds herself going to the doctor’s because of an allergic reaction only to find out that she is pregnant. The news devastates Michelle, as she realizes that she herself cannot remember who she had sexual intercourse with the night of birthday party.
Audience members are taken into the daily life of Michelle, where it is seen that Michelle is a workaholic career driven women who is vying for the Creative Supervisor position at her advertising agency. Michelle does not believe in needing a man in her life, although we are shown that Michelle does secretly have a crush on her boss Bill. Bill is the strikingly handsome and charismatic boss of Michelle, and as we later find out he could be the father of her unborn child. The other man in Michelle’s life, who is crying for her attention and attraction, is Tony, Michelle’s creative assistant. Tony is 6 years Michelle’s junior, but has a huge crush on Michelle, and would do anything for her. As Michelle is lead to believe that Bill is the father of her unborn child, she does everything in her power to gain his acceptance. We are lead at first to believe that the pairing is ideal, and that the couple will live happily ever after. However, as the plot rolls on, we see the character flaws of Bill. In the end Michelle finds that her true love, and the most important man in her life is not Bill, but is in fact Tony. The movie ends with Michelle finding her true love in Tony, and news that he is the father of her child.
The film was very light in flavor, and ideal for anyone looking to unwind with a cute comedy. The plot was very straightforward, as there was no real confusion on what was going on. The scenes flowed really well into one another, and the editing was very clean.
