HIFF 2012 has come to a close. This is the second HIFF that I have attended and I’m more impressed with the movies I had seen this time around. The movies I watched were Ek Tha Tiger, Eden, Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro. I’ve always been a fan of anime especially Hayao Miyazaki’s work. However I’ve never sat through the entire Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro movies and I saw this as a good opportunity to actually watch these movies and enjoy them to the fullest. I also decided to watch Eden because my friend wanted me to go with her. I had no idea what this movie was about and it certainly didn’t disappoint. And lastly I decided to see Ek Tha Tiger just to see what an Indian made film is like.
I have to say that it was really exciting waiting in the lines to see some of these movies that I’ve never heard of before. One of the things that I liked about HIFF is that a lot of non-mainstream movies were featured and I feel that these types of movies often times don’t get enough exposure simply because well its not what most people want to see. The fact that this was required for a class made it a little more difficult for me to actually get out of my house to go see the films, but I have say that I’m really glad that I went to and became a part of HIFF 2012
