Teddy Bear is about a very shy bodybuilder from Denmark who travels to Thailand to try and find the love of his life. He has a mother who is overprotective and extremely jealous and strict, outstandingly acted by Elsebeth Steentoft, so he has to lie about where he is going. The movie is almost without a movie-score, and does what so many scandinavian movies do; Rely on natural sounds and ambience, which creates a lot of awkward moments in my opinion. For this film it was okay, though. Which, is also one of my main issues…
Emotionally gripping, some great acting, and an interesting and relevant story. But unfortunately it didn´t live up to my expectations, as it could have used some more upbringing scenes. It all became a bit too sad/depressing at times, and when they could have had a funny moment to break the awkwardness, they didn´t… But it was funny at times, and so nice seeing my second home in the movie theater! By all means a good movie, just not my favorite so far at the festival.
