Today was the Hawaii premiere for the film “Hang Loose.” My friend and I had planned to see this film since the beginning of the week mainly because it starred one of our favorite YouTube personalities, Kevin Wu (KevJumba). We had anticipated this day, but did not know what to expect. Since this was our first time attending HIFF, we figured we could just purchase our tickets at the door and not really worry about anything. That was not the case for this film. When the people at the table told us that it was sold out I was immediately devastated. So, instead of watching “Hang Loose,” we ended up watching “Sione’s 2: Unfinished Business.” In all honesty, I’m glad my friend and I were able to watch this film because it featured multiple cultures and was just an overall hilarious movie. Plus, I felt a little better when I saw Kevin Wu walk into the theaters right when his movie was about to start. There are two things I learned today: the first would be to always buy tickets at least 3 days in advance (especially for HIFF) and the second would be that good things can happen when you least expect them (like meeting KevJumba in Waikiki).
