I attended Closing Press Conference on last Friday. It was my first time to sit in front of “real professional directors.” I was very excited because it was my dream to meet with directors who make films as professional. The conference started very quietly and some people asked directors questions about the process of movies. I thought they start creating films from zero. It starts from making story and draw storyboard. Then, they do casting, directing and everything. It can’t be finished in three months or 6 months like our semester. One director took about 10 years for one film. Just for one film. I thought making film isn’t only doing and putting whatever directors want into films but they must spend a bunch of times and money in some case. Being creative isn’t so easy. Movie is my favorite entertainment since I watched “Wizard of Oz” when I was a baby, and movie was only something fun and interest thing to me before. However, I changed my mind a little bit after I attended this conference. I might see movies from an angle of the side of creator because I knew their efforts and passion toward creating movies. I unfortunately didn’t have enough time to talk with them after the conference, but if I have a chance again, I want to ask more about their passion for the movie and want to join them as creator in the near future. Thank you for HIFF.
